Lake Forest Day celebrates community pride; a testament to a great city!

Lake Forest Day festivities celebrate community pride and are hailed as ‘A testament to a great city’. The parade, a beloved tradition, attracted visitors like Lyn Kruecke from Oklahoma City, who was in town for a reunion and was charmed by the local businesses and community spirit on display. The 116th Lake Forest Day, sponsored by American Legion McKinlock Post 264, featured a carnival at West Park and a 5K fun run at Deerpath Community Park.

With over 80 organizations participating in the parade, attendees enjoyed school groups, elected officials, vintage cars, and brass bands marching down Western Avenue. Increased security measures were taken after a past incident, ensuring the safety of all attendees. Despite this, the event was well-attended and enjoyed by many, including first-time visitors like Weston Andrews, who appreciated the small-town feel and passion of the community.

As the festivities concluded, Therese Weatherall praised the celebration and the sense of community it fostered. Lake Forest Day truly showcased the vibrant spirit and pride of the city.
