Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav and Sister Misa Bharti Questioned by CBI and ED in Land-For-Jobs Scam Case
On Saturday, investigation agencies interrogated Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and his MP sister Misa Bharti regarding the railways land-for-jobs scam case. The CBI questioned Yadav for over eight hours, while the ED interviewed Bharti for more than six hours. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the BJP for targeting the RJD leaders and expressed solidarity, stating “We are all united against the attack on democracy.”
Yadav, who had previously missed three scheduled appointments, arrived at the CBI headquarters in accordance with his commitment to the Delhi High Court. The questioning focused on his financial transactions, including his alleged connections to AB Exports Private Limited and AK Infosystems Pvt Ltd. The CBI ensured the court that Yadav would not be arrested this month.
Meanwhile, Bharti was interviewed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the railways land-for-jobs money laundering case. Her statement was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ongoing Bihar Assembly session delayed Yadav’s appearance before the CBI investigators, with his counsel requesting more time due to the assembly schedule.
The CBI’s investigation is part of an ongoing probe into recruitment irregularities during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as railway minister. The agency alleged that favoured candidates were appointed without following procedures, with recruitments taking place in various zones in exchange for land sold to Prasad’s family members at discounted rates.
This development showcases a significant turn in the investigation into the land-for-jobs scam, shedding light on the alleged corruption within the railways recruitment process during that period. Stay tuned for further updates as the agencies continue their probe into this high-profile case.
