Humbled U.S. Olympic beach volleyball stars aim for redemption at Manhattan Beach Open
In a historic turn of events for U.S. beach volleyball, the American men and women left the Tokyo Olympics without any medals for the first time since the sport was introduced in 1996. Former medal favorites Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth are now eager to refocus and recover as they gear up for the Manhattan Beach Open.
The Manhattan Beach Open, has kicked off with Kloth and Nuss leading the women’s bracket. Other Olympic pairs from the U.S. are also competing. The tournament champions will secure a spot in the inaugural AVP League. The atmosphere is intense as these athletes look to bounce back from their Olympic disappointment.
Among the competitors are USC alumni Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes, as well as Tokyo Olympics gold medalists April Ross and Alix Klineman. The men’s side features Andy Benesh and Miles Partain as well as Chase Budinger and Miles Evans, who are determined to showcase their skills and make a statement in their return to action.
With the pressure mounting and the desire for redemption driving them, these athletes are motivated to give it their all on the sandy courts of Manhattan Beach. Their journey for redemption, recovery, and a shot at glory begins here. #ManhattanBeachOpen #BeachVolleyballRedemption #USOlympians #AVPLeagueBound #TokyoOlympicsFallout #VolleyballComeback #USAonthePier
