Gambhir recently shared his regret about underutilizing Suryakumar’s talent during their time together at Kolkata Knight Riders. However, Suryakumar expressed confidence in turning things around.

As the newly-appointed T20I captain, Suryakumar emphasized that India will maintain the aggressive cricket style prevalent under former captain Rohit Sharma. He stated, “The same approach continues; just the leadership has changed.” Suryakumar aims to follow Rohit’s example of on-field leadership and hopes to replicate his success in T20 cricket.

Suryakumar values the lessons learned from Rohit and plans to apply them in his new role. He mentioned, “What I have learned from him is invaluable in terms of T20 cricket strategy and winning tournaments.” Despite being chosen over Hardik Pandya for the captaincy, Suryakumar believes Pandya’s all-rounder role remains crucial.
