Exciting Progress: Demolition Nearing Completion for Block 59 Development in Naperville

The demolition work for the Block 59 development in Naperville is nearing completion. Rich Dippolito, vice president of redevelopment for Brixmor Property Group, stated that the demolition is about 95% complete. The project, which includes a large dining and entertainment complex, has been in the works for several years.

The $53 million, 91,000-square-foot development will bring new dining options to Naperville, such as Yard House, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Cheesecake Factory, and others. The project also includes a centralized event plaza. Crews are now preparing building pads for incoming tenants, with Stan’s Donuts and Shake Shack expected to be the first to open.

Block 59 is tentatively scheduled to open in fall 2025, with a goal of having a grand opening in September or October. Despite 80% of the development being leased, there are still a few spaces available for potential tenants.

The redevelopment plans for Block 59 were approved by the Naperville City Council in March 2023. The site has been designated as a business district to fund necessary infrastructure improvements. Brixmor will only receive district tax money once certain conditions are met.
