This event will mark the official handover of the Olympics to Los Angeles, the host city for the 2028 Summer Games. The ceremony will also feature H.E.R singing the U.S. national anthem.
LA28 President Casey Wasserman expressed excitement for this historic event, which will showcase the best of Los Angeles to a global audience. The closing ceremony will highlight local artists, athletes like skateboarder Jagger Eaton and track and field star Michael Johnson, and possibly even Hollywood star Tom Cruise performing stunts.
Producer Ben Winston emphasized the importance of showcasing the essence of Los Angeles during the handover, with a mix of sports, music, creativity, and Hollywood magic. Following the ceremony, NBC and Peacock will air a special show called “Countdown to LA28” featuring Olympic legends like Venus Williams, Carl Lewis, and Sugar Ray Leonard.
