Rajasthan CM Urges Doctors to Embrace Right to Health Bill

Rajasthan CM Urges Doctors to End Protest Against Right to Health Bill

In a bid to resolve the ongoing protest against the Right to Health Bill, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has appealed to doctors to end their agitation. The Chief Minister has assured that the interests of doctors have been considered in the bill and that their concerns are unfounded.

Gehlot has instructed the chief secretary to convene a meeting with the protesting doctors to address their grievances and bring an end to the protest. Doctors have expressed concerns about increased bureaucratic interference in the functioning of their hospitals and clinics under the new bill and have called for its withdrawal.

In response, doctors in Jaipur organized a protest rally to voice their opposition. The Right to Health Bill, which guarantees every resident of the state the right to emergency treatment without prepayment at public health institutions, healthcare establishments, and designated healthcare centers, was passed by the Assembly earlier this week.

While the bill was initially drafted to include all healthcare providers, including private facilities, the amended version now specifies that designated healthcare centers will be determined by future rules yet to be established. Gehlot’s appeal comes in the wake of escalating tensions between doctors and the government over the implementation of the new legislation.
