West Ham is in talks to secure a deal with Nice to sign central defender Jean-Clair Todibo, who was also on the radar of Manchester United and Juventus. Earlier this summer, there was an agreement for a loan with an option to buy for €32m [£27m], but negotiations with Juventus were inconclusive. Now, West Ham sees a chance to revisit the deal, considering a loan with an obligation and a permanent transfer. Ultimately, the decision lies with Todibo, who has three years remaining on his contract.
As West Ham looks to bolster their defense, Kurt Zouma is set to undergo a medical before joining UAE club Shabab Al-Ahli. Manchester United, who have a minority stake in INEOS – the owners of Nice, previously eyed Todibo but are unable to make a move due to an agreement prohibiting player transfers between the two clubs.
The summer transfer window closes on August 30 at 11pm UK time in the Premier League and 11.30pm in Scotland. This earlier deadline aligns with other major European leagues, including discussions with leagues in England, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France.
